Craig Poms and Ashley Nuzum didn’t have to travel too far from home to attend this year’s RMA – Carolinas – Virginias Spring Conference, as it was held in Myrtle Beach. While it was a little chilly to hop in the water, it wasn’t too cold for a beautiful game of golf, which many attendees participated in on Friday afternoon. The conference was very well run and you could tell each member of the RMA board put a lot of passion and detail into planning the weekend.
Craig got the opportunity to speak to a few different groups of people during the breakout sessions on Friday afternoon, it was great to meet some new faces as well as say hello to some familiar ones. There were many great speakers, including Sindy Martin, who spoke about how this is the first time in history that there are five generations in the work place. She spoke to how each generation communicates differently and how we should be aware of each other’s preferences in a professional setting. Other speakers were Mark Vitner, the managing director and senior economist at Wells Fargo and Tol Broome, Executive Vice President at BB&T.
There was a beautiful reception Thursday night out on the front lawn of the Hilton, where the conference was held. You could just see the ocean over the sand dunes and palm trees. True to the Carolinas, we had fried chicken and barbecue for dinner… yum yum. We were excited to hear that next year’s conference will be in Asheville and we’re already looking forward to it!
